Before Nestlé, Martie worked for the Goodale Lab at Cornell University, assisting with research on the ways in which human impacts from air pollution, climate change and land-use change affect forest carbon storage and nutrient retention. Martie began her career working as an environmental activist with Environment Maine, organizing and mobilizing local communities to support progressive Environmental policies.

Martie is a graduate of Cornell University with a B.S. in Natural Resources, with a focus on Energy, Environmental and Resource Economics.
